The project consisted of the construction of a new 110,000 square foot store. Site improvements included facility parking for up to 520 cars, site access and internal roads, stormwater drainage and conveyance systems, curbing, landscaping and lighting. The construction required significant earthwork to establish site grades, using compacted fills and modular retaining wall systems. Tectonic provided a full range of services including civil and geotechnical engineering, surveying, construction inspection and materials testing of soils, concrete, structural steel, masonry and asphalt. In addition to preparing the site, grading and drainage plans, the civil engineering design services included a traffic study to evaluate the feasibility of a traffic turnaround, sewer and septic system evaluations, retaining wall design and wetland screening. Tectonic obtained SPDES permits for stormwater discharge and an on-site septic system. In addition, this site is unique because it contained Native American Artifacts, thereby requiring an archeological study. Tectonic coordinated the performance of Phase 1A, 1B, 2 and 3 archeological studies.
