    The scope of work on this project included the rehabilitation of two bridges: one carrying Tuckahoe Road over the Bronx River Parkway and the other carrying Pondfield Road over the Bronx River Parkway in Yonkers, New York. The existing bridge carrying Tuckahoe Road is a 42 foot, single span concrete rigid frame bridge built in1922. The existing bridge carrying Pondfield Road is a 51 foot, single span concrete rigid frame bridge also built in 1922. Work at both bridges involves removal and replacement of pavement, curbs and sidewalks; excavation and removal of materials to expose the top of the rigid frame; cleaning, repairing and waterproofing the rigid frame; major resetting and repointing of the stone parapets and wingwalls; and relocation of the existing gas mains and telephone ducts. The construction cost for both bridges is estimated at $1,250,000.

 

     Tectonic prepared conceptual detailed design plans specifications and cost estimates for the rehabilitation work. Also included in the scope of services is the performance of construction inspection of both bridges and permitting with regulatory agencies, including NYSDOT and SHPO.
