The work involved the installation of over 10,000 linear feet of sewer and water piping ranging from 6 to 18 inches in diameter for the Town of Wawayanda’s Water and Sewer District No. 1. The work involved thirteen crossings beneath NYS Routes 6 and 17M using horizontal directional drilling techniques.  Engineering  and design services included conceptual design development, preparation of detailed design plans, specifications, cost estimates and bid documents, and regulatory permitting with NYSDEC, NYSDOT and Orange County Department of Health. Tectonic also assisted the Town with review of bids and selection of a contractor.

Geotechnical aspects of the project consisted of the performance of test borings along the sewer and water line alignments, and at the locations of each directional drilling pit; laboratory testing of select soil materials; and geotechnical analyses for pavement design and shoring and bracing of the jacking pits.

Construction phase support services were provided and included technical inspection of trench excavation, sheeting, placement of all piping and manhole structures, directional drilling, pressure testing of water mains and disinfection of lines. Tectonic prepared daily inspection reports, maintained quantities of work for preparation of monthly pay estimates and prepared as-built drawings of completed work.
